It’s no secret that living in the United Kingdom can be expensive. But did you know that for some people, it is cheaper to live in EU than the United Kingdom!

Recent research has revealed that for many Brits, relocating to the continent can be more cost-effective than staying in the UK. In this blog post, we’ll explore why this is the case and what kind of options are available for those looking to make the move.

The cost of living in the UK

The United Kingdom is facing a cost of living crisis driven by rising global fuel prices and a looming recession. The cost of everyday items such as food, fuel, rent and utility bills have all increased significantly in recent years, making it difficult for people to maintain their current standard of living. The average house price in the UK is now over five times the average salary, making it very difficult for young people to get on the property ladder.

In addition, tuition fees have risen sharply and the minimum wage is still far lower than the real living wage.

For those looking for a cheaper lifestyle, staying in the UK may not be an option. This is particularly true for younger people who are struggling with high living costs and low wages. For them, relocating to Europe may be a viable option.

The cost of living in Europe

Living in Europe can be much more affordable than living in the UK. The cost of basic necessities, such as food and rent, are much lower in most European countries than in the UK.

Additionally, many European countries have a much lower cost of living than the UK. This means that those looking to move to Europe can enjoy a cheaper lifestyle, while still maintaining a decent quality of life.

For instance, in Portugal, rent prices are around two-thirds cheaper than in the UK and groceries are about 20% cheaper. Malta is another popular destination for those looking to move to Europe, as it has a very low cost of living. Rent prices in Malta are around 50% cheaper compared to the UK, and food and other necessities are much more affordable.

So, those looking to move to Europe can enjoy a much cheaper lifestyle compared to if they were staying in the UK.
